The Liverpool Community Chorus was established in 1980 to sing for the Liverpool Village Sesquicentennial. Since then, the chorus has held two concerts per year.
In 1989, the Chorus was presented the DeWitt Clinton Awards given by Masonic groups to recognize outstanding community service.
The group has made contributions to several Liverpool projects including the purchase of the sound system in Johnson Park, purchase of a grand piano and additional chairs for the Carmen Community Room of the Liverpool Public Library, and purchase of musical instruments for the Liverpool Central School District.
Each year, the Chorus provides scholarships for Liverpool High School students who have exhibited outstanding musical talent.
The Chorus performs annually in Johnson Park for Liverpool is the Place.
The group has also performed in Albany at the Senate Office Building, at Cole Muffler Court during the New York State Fair, at the 25th anniversary of the St. Lawrence Seaway in Massena, and with the Penn State “Singing Lions” at Liverpool High School.
The Chorus toured England and performed at the Neptune Theatre in Liverpool. It also participates in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Syracuse.
More than thirty chorus members sang aboard the Century as it cruised the Western Caribbean and aboard the Norway on a tour of the Eastern Caribbean.
